Beard Transplantation
About Beard Transplantation
When you imagine hair transplants, you may only think of the hair on your head, but beard and mustache hair transplants are also common procedures. If you have been struggling with growing a full beard or noticing hair loss in the facial area, beard hair transplantation may be right for you.
What is beard hair transplantation?
At American Mane Hair Restoration Center, we use the DHI technique for all beard and mustache hair transplants. Similar to a standard DHI transplant, hair follicles are extracted from your head and immediately inserted into an implanter pen, and implanted into the designated area above or below your mouth and face.
The process is a very quick and easy outpatient procedure that is often completed within an hour. Patients can resume their normal activities immediately after, including the use of hair care products. Some patients do report feeling mild tenderness and redness around the treatment area, but sensations should subside within a few days.
We recommend patients avoid shaving or trimming the area and minimize direct sunlight exposure for the first two months.

What is Recovery Like From Beard and Moustache Hair Transplants?
Some simple instructions during the recovery period include avoiding exposure to direct sunlight for two months.
Avoiding trimming and shaving of the hair in the recipient area helps. As will avoiding hot water, high pressure, or intense friction for at least one month.
What Results Can You Expect?
It takes about two weeks for the donor area to heal correctly, however, the transplanted hair should produce a more natural-looking appearance within a week. Within six months, noticeable results will appear with full results expected by the end of a year.
